In a world of mass-produced consumer goods the demand for handmade and artisanal goods are on the decline. As a result, centuries-old artisanal skills and crafsmanship, historically passed on from generation to generation, are being lost. We’re doing our (little) bit to try to curb this.
At B'saha we sell a range of handmade Moroccan handicraft. 90% of the materials used to produce our goods are natural. No artificial dyes, synethic tanning processes, exploitive labour practices and whatnot. We promise. Our goods are available online as well as various markets in Gauteng. We will announce our market-attendance on our facebook and instagram pages for your convenience. We are a husaband-and-wife team, one of us is Moroccan, the other South African.
Perhaps unsayable at first glance, our name is one that we hold close to our hearts. B'saha or the extended version,"B’saha wa raha” is a uniquely Moroccan phrase that literally translates to “in health and comfort." It is uttered often - when presented with a meal, after taking a bath at the hammam, on purchasing a new garment or even a piece of bread. However, there is more meaning to it than these two words: May this new endeavour be a means of goodness for you. I pray that you remain healthy with each coming day and never take for granted anything or anyone, no matter how insignificant it may seem. As long as you are in good health and comfort, there is no reason you shouldn’t be happy. May you continue to capture each new opportunity that comes your way and never turn away from something that could have a positive impact on your life. May you find success as you continue on your journey through life. May you always find peace and love under the care of God.
